I offer a range of tools available to support my work with you.
Myers Briggs Type Indicator
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) questionnaire is the most widely used personality questionnaire worldwide. It is based on over 50 years research and development.
The MBTI questionnaire describes an individual’s personality preferences. It represents these in four dimensions:
Extraversion
Prefers to draw energy from the outer world of activity, people and things
Sensing
Prefers to focus on information gained from the five senses and on practical applications
Thinking
Prefers to base decisions on logic and objective analysis of cause and effect
Judging
Likes a planned, organised approach to life, and prefers to have things decided
or Introversion
Prefers to draw energy from the inner world of reflections, feelings and ideas
or Intuition
Prefers to focus on patterns, connections and possible meanings
or Feeling
Prefers to base decisions on a valuing process, considering what is important to people
or Perceiving
Likes a flexible, spontaneous approach and prefers to keep options open
The various combinations of these preferences result in 16 personality ‘types’. Each is associated with a unique set of behavioural characteristics and values. These provide a useful starting point for individual feedback, self-exploration and group discussion.
MBTI has many applications
Individual and leadership development
With individuals, MBTI can be used to develop awareness of how your preferences impact on your working style and how to use this understanding to become more effective. This can be particularly helpful when combined with coaching.
Team building and development
In this context, MBTI can help teams to understand similarities and differences of team members and how to use this information to work together effectively, improving communication and resolving conflict.
Organisational change
MBTI can help individuals to understand how they react to change and how to cope more effectively when facing change.
Strengthscope
If you enjoy what you do it feels more like play than work. Your excellence stands out and you are successful at what you do.
Recent research into positive psychology has reinforced the concept of focussing on people’s strengths. Using them increases personal and organisational effectiveness. These include approaches like appreciative inquiry (http://appreciativeinquiry.case.edu/intro/whatisai.cfm).
I am an accredited user of Strengthscope (http://www.strengthscope.com/). It is a revolutionary assessment tool that provides comprehensive measurement of an individual’s strengths and the extent to which these are productively applied at work.
This tool can be used with individuals and teams. It also incorporates the option for feedback from others, such as your manager, colleagues and direct reports on the outcome of the self-assessment.
Used in conjunction with coaching, Strengthscope can build your own or your team’s awareness. It can also harness your ability to use your strengths productively at work, increasing your success in and enjoyment of the work you do.
